A simple landscape image. The original was colour digital but I prefered to convert to monochrome – thinking about it, I’m not sure if I’ve stripped out all the colour information, so there may be a very slight tinge to it.
I saw this as I left a Roman archeological site. It seemed to scream at me ‘you can’t ignore me!’. I had to use a 300mm lens to get it to go some way to filling the frame. Some time after I photographed it, I found out that this is one of the most photographed trees in that part of the country – little wonder really. Had I enough time, I would have liked to spend some time looking for different vantage points, but I needed to get home, my family were with me (‘come on, we’re bored’ – at least I feel that’s what’s going through their minds).
