Blue Tit Box

Following my post of a couple of days ago – I’ve now repaired the nest box by fitting it with a  new roof.  The old one was watertight but I don’t think it would have got through another winter.  In the process I cleared out all the old nest material, so if any more birds want to use the box for a second brood this year they will have to start from scratch.  I’m thinking about moving the box because I’ve trimmed some branches off the tree it’s attached to give some more light to part of my garden, which in the process removes some of the box’s shelter from the prevailing wind.  I’ll see how it goes.

  1. Stephen we lived at Lakenheath AFB , Suffolk back in 1979-1981… and were members of the National Trust… I hate to say it but I got kinda sick of castles……. wish I were there again now with my camera equipment. Love the sand castle in the foreground.. which castle is this?

    • The castle is Dunstanburgh Castle.
Lakenheath is an a lovely part of the UK. My origins are in the neighbouring County of Norfolk. I once visited Lakenheath base to assist in the repair of a Telex machine – weird the I had to change my sterling for dollars to buy a burger for my lunch!
The National Trust is not in the good books of many photographers, the Trust have a strict policy when it comes to people using images that photographers take on Trust properties – it’s okay for ‘private use’ but no commercial use whatsoever.
