Grianán of Aileach, County Donegal, Ireland

Spectucalar venue, awful weather.  Grianán of Aileach is an ancient ring fort built in the sixth or seventh century.  Unfortunately it was undergoing some renovation work, so there was scaffolding to some parts of it.

Taken on HP5+ and scanned negative.  Not the best bit of developing I’ve done but it has some atmosphere.

  1. Lovely — the simplicity is what makes it, I think. I see what you mean about a darker sky — although I think that would have changed the atmosphere to something else entirely. Here the feeling is sort of waiting and pensive; a darker sky might have more of a feeling of foreboding.
