Spectucalar venue, awful weather. Grianán of Aileach is an ancient ring fort built in the sixth or seventh century. Unfortunately it was undergoing some renovation work, so there was scaffolding to some parts of it.
Taken on HP5+ and scanned negative. Not the best bit of developing I’ve done but it has some atmosphere.

Not something I’d normally do – comment on my own picture, but now I look at it here I can’t help feel that it could be enhanced by some degree, especially with a darker sky… mmmm.
I rather like the contrast between the sky and the dark building… The cloud cover feels like a rain coming up or that there might be a light mist in the air… All in all I got the feeling of “arthritis weather” cold and damp.
I like your definition!
Wonderful.
Thanks Andrew!
You certainly captured the atmosphere!
Thanks – but I’m not sure I’ve developed my idea sufficiently……
It’s so beautiful and mysterious! great photo!
Thank you Anarya! I’m glad you like it.
I cannot stop watching it! very beautiful..
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Lovely — the simplicity is what makes it, I think. I see what you mean about a darker sky — although I think that would have changed the atmosphere to something else entirely. Here the feeling is sort of waiting and pensive; a darker sky might have more of a feeling of foreboding.
The choices we have to make! Thanks Luddy!.:)
Restoration was going at Westminster Abbey when I was in London 🙂 Don’t you just HATE that?!
