Cats Cradle for Real Men

As you can guess, part of a ‘tall ship’.

Seemed a natural convert to black and white from the digital original.

  1. Your conversions are superb. Wish I could use a better graphics program for mine. It’s very difficult to convert most images, but this one works so well. Thanks for all of your likes on my little blog. I am an old amateur (minus one) but I love to play at photography. 🙂 Artists like you inspire me to keep trying.

    • 🙂 – I use Photoshop CS2. Photoshop Elements is a good program which I started out with, and I would still be using that if a specific discount opportunity hadn’t arose for me. I know some people like to use ‘Gimp’, which is downloadable from the web, but I couldn’t get on with it. Desaturation followed by an adjustment with Levels or Curves is all that is needed for many images.
I’m not sure age has anything to do with it – many of my photographic acquaintances are my senior, some whose interest has been rekindled by the advent of digital photography – so much easier than the wet stuff!
(I do not consider myself an artist, I am simply an improving amateur photographer – but making that statement is inclined to be opening a tin of worms! 😉 )

      • Thank you so much, Stephen. This gives me much needed information. I can barely use PSP and I think I had Elements once. I have to try again. I don’t know levels or curves, but I will investigate! You are kind to help me. 🙂 I always look twice at any image that you like. I appreciate that you don’t go down the list and like everything. That really is not helpful. 🙂 Thanks again!
