RIP – now he is sitting at “The Sky in the Night” – I didn’t knew that Moore was also a self-taught xylophone and piano player, as well as an accomplished composer too… 🙂
As amberafrica says, it’s difficult to ‘like’ this news – but he is definitely a loss to the world. I never met him but watched him a fair bit and, as well as educating the ignorant like me without belittling them, he struck me as a very genuine guy and a gentleman to boot.

I suspect he just needed to fill his time with things that demanded concentration.
Hard to like this news !
Indeed.
My passing interest in Astronomy comes directly from him. He was able to put the material across to the ignorant without talking down to them.
This is very true of this great man 🙂
A fine man. Far too few like him left.
Very true.
I only know of him, and haven’t had the pleasure of hearing him or seeing him – I’m quite sure I’ve missed out.
🙂
from my point of view he always presented the face of practical astronomy. He was presenting his programme on the TV before we had a TV.

I suppose there’s no reason why each of us can’t be similar in our own way……
Sad loss of a great British eccentric and a very knowledgeable and passionate man
