A sculpture by the side of the River Wharfe in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. The local Environment Office (or whatever they call themselves today) have aspirations to get Salmon to breed in the river again. I have seen information that suggests they do get the occasional Salmon come up the river but as to breeding……
This is a night time shot – with the only lighting as harsh tungsten floodlights.
Breeding at night under harsh tungsten floodlights? Not quite the right atmosphere, even though you make it look rather romantic.
🙂 – no comment, so as not to incriminate myself! 😉
A great photo Stephen…not sure salmon would want to breed in the Wharfe though..maybe they could arrange for some grizzly bears stationed at the weir in order to make it more realistic…
I think you may be surprised at how clean the river is nowadays. I hear that they have been seen at various points on the river, particularly at Tadcaster….
Awesome image 🙂 Hope the Salmon take note!
🙂 thank you.
I’m a sucker for sculpture anyway 🙂 Harsh lighting it may be, but to me it looks like dappled light through water – really effective.
Very nice vibe to this shot.
