Brings back happy memories! The fun, the excitement ….. the fear in those times when I was SURE I was going to hit the tree only to brush past it. Thank you 🙂
Big tree roots have always been intriguing to me – I don’t remember much childhood, but do remember walking round a big tree near my grandparents’ graves, stepping on the enormous roots all the way round the tree.
The surface root patterns here are beautiful. Knowing that the effective root system of a tree is within 24 inches of the surface, somehow I can’t avoid thinking about these lovely fingers grasping for nourishment for the old tree. A wonderful image.
Very cool image!
Thanks!
That’s really kinda sweet, isn’t it?
🙂 indeed.
I almost missed the rope swing in the top left corner! beautiful lines and texture, love your work.
Thanks!

🙂 – I have a similar memory – also one of playing with toy cars around the roots of huge tree.
What a stunning tree, never giving up…. Sweet! 🙂
It has the potential of having many generations of youngsters kicking around it’s roots and still be standing when they are dead and buried.

I’m always fascinated by exposed tree roots. There’s something “otherworldly” about them. Or maybe I’ve watched/read too much fantasy genre!
Yes – I suspect the ‘fantasy’ is the cause.
