Coal Tit

Coal_MG_0213

Thought I’d try something I’ve been neglecting over the past months, i.e. a bit of bird photography.   Trouble is the conditions weren’t too conducive but I managed to get reasonable shot of this little’un.   The exercise reinforced my belief that trying to get on one of these for a decent shot is very very difficult – especially when the lighting is not good.  (Through the double glazing, again.)   I really needed it to turn it’s head a fraction to get the white stripe down the back of it’s head, but maybe I’ll get a better one next time. (’bout the same size as a Chickadee.)

  1. As a bird photographer (of sorts) myself I understand the challenges. This is a nice enough portrait of a coal tit but you do need the light to be with you. You’ve done really well to find any sort of catchlight in the eye.
