We found ourselves a King.
University of Leicester has just confirmed that the skeleton of Richard III has indeed found.
Well done to all the team involved!

Pretty fantastic isn’t it?! Their anticipation during testing and excitement at the results must have been overwhelming.
Indeed, though I get the impression the phrase “I love it when a plan comes together” applies in this case. 😉
Agree absolutly well done… 🙂
An interesting story, indeed. Now I just need to read up on Richard.
I was surprised to learn there’s a “Richard III Society” http://www.richardiii.net/index.php .
A very interesting find. The surprising part to learn was having a descendent DNA exemplar for comparison.
Indeed. One wonders how much preliminary investigation was carried out before the dig.
And a Canadian involved too – I’d like to know how they found Richard’s so distant nephew. Quite a story.
Don’t know if you can get access to the BBC website http://www.bbc.co.uk – but there’s a fair bit of stuff there and specifically this page gives a bit of an overview.

Thanks, Stephen – all very interesting. How exciting i must have been for those researchers.
I’ve been following the story. Fascinating! I’m a bit of an archaeology buff and have been interested in the likes of Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Richard the Lion Heart, John Lackland and of course, of course …. Arthurian Legend. Can you imagine a world without DNA analysis and what secrets will unfold as the technology becomes more advanced!
🙂 – I’m all for DNA but there’s a thin line between a secret and a mystery! With fewer secrets there are fewer mysteries! 😉
