Awesome. In my black and white 2 class we had to shoot a whole roll of ‘black on black’ and ‘white on white’ to discuss exposure. Great work here
Such exercises are great for getting to learn about exposure – the simpler the better to allow concentration on technique rather than subject – and then technique becomes more automatic and we can concentrate on subject and getting the picture we ‘see’.

Thank you.
Neatly exposed! There is nothing like getting it right from the beginning, in camera.
I use the good old zone system. It works fine, and when learned, it is so easy to understand and “think”. 🙂
🙂 I’m currently re-reading ‘The Negative’ and I’ve had a crack at doing some zone system stuff following a book by the late John Blakemore. Unfortunately, I don’t do enough film to make it particularly useful in a physical sense, but I always have it in mind when I’m choosing my exposure settings.
