Waste Not, Want Not

Ever wondered what happens to old metal baths?  Well some end up as makeshift cattle troughs.  In this case, a rather unglamorous drainage pipe is tapping into a natural water source, (not sure if this is a spring or simply a rainwater gulley).

I had been taking some photos using a polarising filter, one shot here is with and after looking at the result, I realised I needed the reflection of the sky to ensure the ripples would be visible – giving the water proper substance.

A view from the other side shows that the overflow still has full function.  There were no cattle or sheep in the field when I was there, but evidence of their recent presence was all around. 😉
