Old Oak and Another

Oak_MG_4526This oak tree stands beside an old track.  The oad would hide somebody inside the hollow trunk quite easily.  I wouldn’t have thought it would be possible to gauge how old it is because it’s so hollow, so there are no rings to count, but I’ve learnt that a reasonable estimate might be made by measuring the circumference about 1.5 metres from the ground.  I will be adding a length of string to my camera bag for future use.

Oak_MG_4531Another, perhaps a fraction of the age of the first one, perhaps it may even be from its acorn.  It’s likely both will be still full of life long after I am dead and gone.
