We don’t have much in the way of Aspens in the UK, but we do have Silver Birch. I just liked the textures here. (Couldn’t make up my mind whether I preferred the portrait or landscape version.)

I see what you mean, it is a tough call. On balance the vertical, but very close 😃🍀
Cheers!
Those are both good orientations.
Thanks!
In western countries few trees beat the silver birches and the beeches when they stand naked and pale against Winter. Great photos both.
Thank you!
Stephen, I also thought I had left comments on this post. I prefer the portrait orientation as it focuses more on the tree as a subject rather than a landscape image.
Thanks!
I left a bunch of comments on various blogs the other day but they didn’t seem to ‘take’.
Both work for me – love birch trees.
Yes, even when they get quite old they can be full of character.
Hope I’m not being too “contrary” here, but I prefer the landscape. Somehow I can see the forest through the trees with this orientation. Beautiful. I love both birch and aspen trees.
Thanks!
Another one of those places for a ‘revisit’ – I would like to get a shot when the leaves are just breaking through.
