It seems, since my last visit, the candle stand has been moved to this less decorative window.

Danke!
One of my preoccupations when I visit a place is to look where the interesting light is, irrespective of the subject.
now why does this remind me of the Calvinist viewpoint…? maybe it is the severe uncompromising effect … Ever noticed how the camera often captures what is on some other people’s mind ?
An interesting perspective.
To me, a person’s interpretation of a photograph very much relies on what they bring to the picture themselves, they background, education, etc (what I term ‘baggage’). Often, a simple subject can evoke many things to many people – indeed, this is one of the reasons I like to take such subjects, knowing that interpretation can be wide and varied.
I am often amazed by what people see in my and others photographs, certainly aspects of an image that I didn’t see myself.
Yes that is the interesting thing about the potential of a photograph. I am as anti Calvinist as one can go. That is my baggage of antipathy to the restricting point of view … I wish you a very merry Christmas .
I hope you had a lovely Christmas festival – and a Happy New Year to you and yours.
I had no idea that the Calvinist tradition existed – but as I’m currently an atheist……..
Great play of lights and shadows here!
Thank you!
(Always look for the light!)
Spendid photograph. One of my favourites.
You’re very kind, thank you!
Beautiful contrasts! The photo conjures up castles and all sorts of interesting places. And stories…
Prompting people to conjure ideas from their imagination is one of the primary aims of my photography – I have found that it is the incidental/accidental subjects that are most powerful in this respect. (So I’m well chuffed, thank you!)
Best wishes for 2014!
Happy New Year to you too!
