The tall ship Stavros S Niarchos is owned by the Tall Ships Youth Trust. To the left of the frame is the old Pump House and in the distance is Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral. The ship is moored next to the Maritime Museum and International Slavery Museum. The Maritime Museum is worth a visit if you like boats…. the International Slavery Museum is worth a visit, full stop.

Sure beats the tall ship owned by my employer, Discovery World in Milwaukee. The S/V Denis Sullivan is a 3-mast ship, but seems like only half that tall. If that Cathedral is as far in the distance as it appears, it must be massive!
I have to say on the Cathedral .. I didn’t realise how big it was. Apparently, it is the biggest cathedral in the UK and the fifth largest in the world! The tower is 331 ft (floor to to top) – which, because it’s on a small hill, means the top is 500 above sea level..
It was completed in 1978
Displaying properly tonight 🙂
Perhaps it could tell how infuriated you were, so decided to act on the side of caution and not mess you about!
Great photo. I love tall ships very much and visit to see them when I have possibility. Last summer they visited Helsinki.
I’ve never been to Helsinki but I can’t think of a better place for a flotilla of tall ships – my imagination puts the two together.
