A squint or hagioscope filled with candles – in case of a failure of the light bulb perhaps?  Traditionally we think of candles as having historical connotations –  nowadays we should think in similar terms about the ‘old-fashioned’ light bulb?

  1. So true. I know I am aging – I remember the Canadian dollar & two dollar bills, not coins. Soon a penny for your thoughts will be an archaic expression in Canada. The light bulb image over the head for a bright idea will dim out.
    Great composition – captures multiple ironies of the passage of time.
