I like their tactic of simply sorting out what they’ve found so far and leaving significant areas untouched when resources should allow them to do a proper job.
I agree. Our guide said he wasn’t sure when they would get additional funding. I wondered how many other mosaic floors they had found but left covered. Apparently the center section of the house of the birds floor was stolen some years ago.
Some people are just plain nasty!
We intended to go to Italica last year but things didn’t go according to plan – next year maybe.
Looks expensive though – it cost him an arm and a leg!! 😀
I was at Italica about 10 days ago. A fascinating site. I remember this statue off in the distance from where we were. Lovely memory.

It was free entry when we went, although access to the upper parts of the amphitheatre were restricted (perhaps for repairs to paths, etc.).
