Whittling-ham?
I’ve had a look at some reference material and cannot find any evidence of craftsman whittlers specialising in pork…. or any other meat come to that! 😉
There were some lime pits/kilns thereabouts.
Lovely. To me this is interesting to see, because in my country we love carvings and bear carving are most popular. We also organize bear carving contests. If you do not mind, I give here 2 links:

We have a local chainsaw artist who does commissions on the stumps of trees that have to come down for various reasons, which I think is a great idea.
