Magpie mine is fascinating, I stumbled across it by accident, taking the road less travelled because of my loathing of the A515. There was no one there but me, it was a little eerie.
I get the impression, based on your images, that they may have done a little ‘work’ since your visit – presumably to increase kerb appeal for passing tourists –

It seem to be a very sheltered spot, so I should imagine it must be worth a visit at dusk on a windy day!
