Creeping Thistle

I think these are Black Knapweed, but I’m happy to be corrected on this. (And I have been…. this more likely to be a Creeping Thistle!) 

I should be investigating possibilities of a few tablet based field guides that I can take round with me – it’s far easier to identify things at the time rather than later.   Having said that,  I used to take my birding field guide on my trips out but I was seldom referring to it – not that I knew all the birds, but I was seeing the same things all the time – it just became dead weight.

(The crop is wheat. I couldn’t choose between the two compositions – though having prepared the post, I think the break in the tree line of the second, at the left frame edge is a bit distracting. )

Rice Pudding Anyone?

When we were youngsters, our mother made ‘rice pudding’ and she’d put a little dab of jam (jelly) in the middle – which inevitably led to having pink rice pudding, but no less delicious for it!

(Sorry, no idea what flower it is.  I’ve used a little photoshop work to kill some of the light, which has in turned brought some of the colour up and darkened the background)

Dandelions Everywhere

Toddlers could have a great time playing ‘What’s the time Mr. Wolf’ along this stretch, the seedheads of Dandelions seemed to be everywhere and just waiting to be plucked and ‘puffed’ on.

I don’t have a macro facility for my DSLR but my old bridge camera comes in handy for the close close-ups I want to do (I’m not sure this is really a macro shot as it’s not more than 1:1)
