Fewston reservoir was a favourite place to walk around for my late father-in-law, a place near enough to Harrogate where he lived but far enough for him to breathe the country air of his Somerset childhood and an environment for him to take, develop and print nature photographs.
It still is a popular place although all the paths around it have been made much more genteel in an an effort to increase accessibility – so it feels a lot less ‘adventurous’. Nevertheless, a gentle stroll round with some considered observation will generally offer up something worth photographing, especially during the week when the children are at school.
